The Housing, Construction and Planning Agency (HMS) is committed to ensuring that personal data is processed securely, lawfully and transparently.
This notice explains the processing of personal data specifically in connection with the use of hms.is.
The general HMS Privacy Policy applies to other processing of personal data carried out by the Agency.
What information may be processed?
When you use hms.is, the following information may be processed:

- information about your use of the website and pages visited,

- search terms entered into the website search,
- your email address and other information provided when subscribing to a mailing list,
- information submitted through a contact form,

Cookies and consent
HMS uses CookieHub to manage visitors' consent to the use of cookies and similar technologies.
CookieHub is implemented through Google Tag Manager and is used to communicate visitors' consent choices to services on the website that require consent.

Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager
HMS uses Google Analytics to obtain statistical information about the use of the website, including information about:

HMS uses the following service providers in connection with hms.is:

- Algolia – website search,
- Mailchimp – mailing lists and email distribution,
- Twilio SendGrid – transmission of emails from contact forms,
- Microsoft – Power BI reports and embedded content.
These providers may process personal data on behalf of HMS or, depending on the nature of the service, act as independent controllers for certain processing activities.
Transfers outside the EEA
Some of the service providers used by HMS are international organisations. Processing may therefore, in some circumstances, involve transfers of personal data outside the European Economic Area (EEA).
Where such transfers take place, they must be based on an appropriate transfer mechanism under applicable data protection law, such as an adequacy decision, the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or other recognised safeguards.
Retention of personal data
Personal data is not retained for longer than necessary for the purpose for which it was processed or as required by legal and records-management obligations applicable to HMS.
Retention periods may vary depending on the type of information and the service concerned.
